Tim MilliganThe Rotary Leadership Institute is a multi-district, grass roots leadership development program that began in New Jersey in 1992 and has spread throughout 200 member districts world-wide. RLI, started here in D-6960 by PDG Jim Henry in January 2004, quickly emerged to become The Rotary Leadership Institute-Sunshine Division as it quickly added member districts across the state of Florida! Today RLI-SD now includes all 8 districts in Florida, all 3 districts in Georgia, the 10 countries in the Caribbean of D-7020 and Puerto Rico (D-7000).

RLI’s purpose is to help Rotary club members (not necessarily club presidents) prepare for their club, community and vocational leadership roles through quality training and educational experience. We also encourage “veteran” Rotarians who want to expand their knowledge of Rotary as well as newer club members who desire to accelerate their understanding and appreciation of Rotary to become a contributing member and better business leaders.

The RLI experience is a 3 Part sequence (Parts I, II & III) each being a full day's (Saturdays) curriculum of 6 sessions and includes breakfast and lunch. The learning style is through discussion rather than lecture. RLI also offers a Graduate Membership course and an evening Club Strategic Planning session for individual clubs.

RLI is a series of fast-paced, interactive, one day courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills and increase their base of knowledge of Rotary. Courses are fun, topical and geared toward active business and professional persons who want to be more effective leaders in their vocation and club as well as more knowledgeable Rotarians.

Whether you are an officer or director of your club, a seasoned Rotarian or a newcomer, you will be guaranteed to come away with a greater understanding of Rotary and advance your leadership skills. This should help you to make the most of your Rotary experience as well as a better community and business leader!

Yours in Rotary Service,
Tim Milligan
