District Governor Nominee Designate
Tim Milligan
The Rotary Club of Bradenton
Tim was born in Lynwood, California. Since he was not coordinated enough to surf, his parents moved him to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at age one. At 10, he moved to Philadelphia. His first college was a small Methodist college in Jackson, Tennessee. Since Tim was not a small Methodist, he transferred to the University of Tennessee receiving his BS in Marketing and his first child.
After graduation he went to work for the Aluminum Company of America, which brought him back to Pittsburgh for a short stay. Large corporations were not his forte, so he formed his own manufacturing representative firm specializing in packaging for the soft drink and brewery industry. Eventually he chose to accept a position as VP sales and marketing for a multi-national corporation. They manufactured the trucks and trailers that delivered soft drinks and beer. In 2001 he retired. In 2002 his wife told him to get a job. He formed TP Milligan and Associates, an insurance agency specializing in health, long term care and life insurance.
Tim has been married to the lovely Sharon for over 32 years and has 5 children, 11 grandchildren and one spoiled dog.
Rotary started for Tim in 1984. After a business break, he began again in earnest in 1997 in Bradenton, Florida. He was club president in 2000-2001 and Assistant Governor in 2006 through 2008. Most recently he was District Membership Chair, Rotary Leadership Institute Faculty and finally, RLI District Director. He has also been assigned to the Zone 33-34 Branding Committee.
His passion is for his work as a director for Florida Gift of Life and hosting one of their children. Tim’s long time mantra has been “Show someone an unexpected kindness”. This has been reinforced so many times in his work with other Rotarians. He now works diligently for his, and your, next “Rotary Moment”.
