Our District’s Membership goals this year go far beyond simply stating the number of members we would like to see the District grow by. Although we do need to use numbers as a way to measure our progress in meeting our goals, it has become apparent in looking back and reviewing the Membership trends in the District through the past five years or so, that member retention is the real issue and will be a major focus in this year’s Membership goals.

The Membership Committee has put together a program which will be the focus of 3 Membership seminars to be held throughout the District, all of which will be held no later than December of this year.

The Committee will be providing each club with an inspiring DVD produced by Rotarian Mike Colgan of the Charlotte Harbor club which can be used as a new Member recruitment tool, and as a reminder to current members as to the purpose of Rotary and the value of their membership to themselves and their community.

The Committee will focus on helping clubs recognize the pertinence of their current members, the significance of treating members as their “customers”, and the importance of meeting their customer’s needs. This will include a re-focusing on the networking aspect of Rotary and on the opportunity to use one’s vocation as a means for service to others.

Finally, an online Directory is being produced which will give individual Rotarians the ability to advertise their businesses to other Rotarians throughout the District.
